When is it time to write about a subject that you think is taboo?

There are many things in this world that are taboo, off limits, too difficult to talk about, or to put it bluntly, just plain disgusting. We think, there is just no way we would ever discuss this, let alone allow our name to be associated with the subject.

How can I let my friends, business associates, clients, strangers know I have this particular problem and use this particular cure? How can I bare my soul, talk about such a personal subject and risk ridicule and scorn for going outside conventional medical wisdom and western philosophy when I know how embarrassing it may be. I'll tell you when. When you have suffered agonizing abdominal pains that have left you doubled up writhing in pain crying on your floor for hours before you could stand it no longer and were forced to visit the emergency room, only to go through a battery of tests, including CAT scans and told there was nothing there. When you see your Urologist and Gastroenterologist and are told there is nothing wrong that a good laxative won't cure, even though you've already tried them all. When you suffer with such severe constipation for weeks at a time that your Urologist and Gastroenterologist and are told there is nothing wrong and that a good prescribed laxative, enema or suppository, would give you relief, but you cant eliminate anything regardless of what you do. When you gain so much weight, because food stays in your belly for literally weeks and you are depressed, aching, slow moving, slow thinking and wondering how you will ever function properly again.

It is when you reach this low point in your life that you start to research alternatives, weigh the possibility of nonconventional therapies even think the unthinkable. It is through that mind set, that you come to the realization that you will do almost anything to end the nightmare of this unbearable constipation and it is against that backdrop that the subject that is taboo, off limits, too difficult to talk about and just plain disgusting, bares my signature below.

It is also against that backdrop that I was fortunate enough to become acquainted with this tiny ball of fire, most knowledgeable Nutritionist, and incredible Colon Hydrotherapist I've had the privilege to know who God put on this earth for the sole purpose of healing others, named Shannon Elldrege. I am proud to write is letter about her and put my name on it.

When I came to the realization that none of the conventional methods of ending constipation were working I, being a lawyer, did what I always do, went to my computer and began searching the internet for an answer. I came across Colon hydrotherapy and started reading everything I could. Some articles were positive and others negative by conventional doctors who warned of the hazards of colonic therapy. After reading as much as I could and weighing the pros and cons, and continuing to ache and have constipation no matter what I did, I decided to call these Colon Hydro Therapists in the telephone book. Most had answering machines pick up, but one answered herself. Since I had read about the different types of machines and knew the state of the art, I asked if she had it and her response was yes. She told me she was going into a session, but would call me back to discuss what she does in about an hour and I told her that would be fine. About one hour later I received a call back from a women who introduced herself as Shannon calling from Zen Cleanse. She answered all of my questions without hesitation and without any sugarcoating. At the end of the conversation I asked her if she had any available time the next day and after looking at her calendar she said yes. We made an appointment and the next day I came to her office. It was the best decision I ever could have made.

I entered into a very pleasant office and spoke with Shannon for a few minutes and she explained what the procedure was going to be. I went into a very clean bathroom, stripped my clothes, put on a surgical gown and went into a room with a very comfortable medical table. There was the state of the art machine with a clear glass window. Shannon explained everything that is expelled from my body passes through this machine and we would be able to see it all so it can be identified, because many different elements will pass through. You might think only stool passes through, but there will also be chemicals from years of antibiotics, pain medication, sleeping pills, possibly parasites, bile and other organisms. Since Shannon could identify them all, she would point them out as they passed to let me know what they were and give me an idea how long they had been in my intestinal tract. She was analyzing the level of health in my intestinal tract far better and faster than any doctor that takes weeks to call back with results of tests that never come up with anything.

The process began with a speculum being inserted gently into my rectum with my own hand. This is a sterile plastic device from which warm water is pumped into the colon to loosen the stool and other stuff. Once the colon is filled enough the process is reversed and the water and what is inside the colon is released through the speculum through the glass window through the machine and into the sewer system. This process is repeated several times over about forty minutes. It is amazing when you realize that you are allowing this person you just met to do this process to you, free of any shame or discomfort. Why, because all the time you are, for the first time in months, feeling lighter, freer and more comfortable then you thought you would ever feel again, all because of this tiny wonderful women who speaks softly and gently and takes you through the experience as if you are her best friend and you've known her all your life. That is not just the professional Shannon, that's the personal Shannon.

After my first session I felt like a ton of bricks had been lifted off of me. Shannon immediately identified part of my ancestry, which was impossible to do by my name, and gave me a personal diet to help my stomach problems. She also started me on a special herbal fiber blend that was amazing and did what none of the prescription laxatives could do. By the time I left she had typed out a long list of does and don'ts of the foods I should or shouldn't be eating and I signed up for a series of six treatments.

With each treatment I eliminated more and more from my intestinal tract until after the sixth we started seeing dead parasites (worms) and one that was actually around ten inches long. They were dead and being expelled only because Shannon had me on a daily regimen she customized specifically for me. At this point I have changed my diet from animal products and either wheat or whole wheat to strictly vegetables, nuts, non-gluten breads and cereals, seeds and fruits. I have shed sixteen pounds to a healthy 170 pounds and have stopped taking several medications, have flattened my stomach and started to eliminate on my own. I still have colon hydro therapy, because all that build up of plaque, tar and other horrible waste continues to be trapped inside the intestinal walls after 58 years of abuse and it takes constant washing and work to get it all out, but it is all worth the trouble, believe me.

So, let me answer the beginning sentence. It is time to write about this taboo subject when you have experienced what I have written about in this letter. The horrible pain, agony, distress and then the incredible relief, joy and experience of meeting and experiencing the magic that is Shannon Elldrege.
